It's about 10-12 km east of the village and can be reached by taxi, car, or hitchhiking. The fantastically shaped reddish rock formations<\/strong> live up to their name and offer a short but very picturesque walk, especially at sunset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/span>How to go to Fairy Tale (Skazka) Canyon<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\nFrom Tosor<\/strong>, the Fairy Tale Canyon<\/strong> is only about 7 km down the road<\/strong> towards Bokonbaevo. If you don't have a car, you can hitchhike or wait for a marshrutka coming from Karakol<\/strong>; many cars stop, and the approximate cost per person is 100\u2013150 som.<\/p>\n\n\n\nWhen you reach the signposted detour, you'll have to walk about 2 km along a gently ascending gravel road<\/strong>, or hitchhike briefly to save energy. The trail runs from the parking lot to the canyon entrance, where you have to pay an entrance fee of around 50 som per person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you don't have your own vehicle, your options are limited: there's no direct public transportation, so you have two possible routes.

<\/span>Connections from Tosor: Karakol, Balykchy and Kochkor<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\nTosor, despite being a small town, is well located on the main road that runs along Lake Issyk-Kul. From there, you can wait by the roadside for a mashrutka passing by on the way to Karakol or Balykchy. There's no fixed schedule, but with a little patience, several usually pass by during the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I took a mashrutka to Balykchy, and from there I connected with another transport to reach Kochkor, the base city for continuing to explore other areas of the country like Song-Kul. It's a very common route among backpackers, so it's not unusual to run into other travelers along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n

But it's also true that the accessible area isn't very extensive, and if you're traveling from far away just for this, it might fall a bit short.<\/p>\n\n\n
